Advent at St. Pancras

Advent is a time for preparation for Christmas.

Advent is a time of waiting for the birth of Christ, but we are often so busy with material preparations that the true meaning is squeezed out - Christmas shopping, cards, cooking, decorating and counting the cost!  Let's set aside just a little time each day to open the Advent Calendar, light a candle and marvel at how, on the first Christmas Day, God's Son came into the world "and the Word was made flesh".

The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and refers to the coming of Christ. This refers, first of all, to our celebration of Christ's birth at Christmas; but second, to the coming of Christ in our lives through grace and the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
